Ungovernable Terrapin
It is often said that turtles are slow, methodical, gentle. But anyone who has done hands-on work with turtles knows that they are wild as can be, startlingly agile, quietly up to no good! While turtles have huge individual personalities and can be quite coy, especially if they’re of the hide-not-fight proclivity, docile is rarely in the cards. This design features a diamondback terrapin, the species of turtle that I studied for seven years, in all of her silly mischievous splendor. Let the gleam in her eye, which doubtlessly preceded an attempt to bite my arm or the calipers I used to measure her, be yours as you approach life with a wild spirit in your heart.
